Mont Cal, Bizanet Aude A short circular walk above Bizanet with panoramic views of the Pyrenees, through wild garrigue in the heart of Occitanie, southern France.

Distance: Approx. 3–4 km circular

Parking: Small car park approximately 200m before the summit — do not attempt to drive to the top...no matter what satnav tells you, park when the new bit of the road ends - trust me!!!

What to ExpectThe trail to the summit of Mont Cal winds through classic southern French garrigue .. sun-baked scrubland thick with wild thyme, rosemary, and cistus. The path is well-marked and easy to follow, making it ideal for walkers of all abilities, including those with dogs or children.At the summit, an orientation table helps you identify the landmarks spread out before you .. on a clear day, the Pyrenees stretch across the horizon in a way that stops you in your tracks. To the south, the Aude plain rolls toward the Mediterranean. To the north, the wild hills of the Corbières.The garrigue is especially beautiful in spring, when wildflowers push through between the rocks and the air smells of herbs and warm earth....Heaven.
